Dr. Octavio Elizondo, DDS
Meet Dr. Octavio Elizondo
Dr. B. Octavio Elizondo is a native of the Rio Grande Valley who has devoted his life to serving his community with high-quality dental care, treating his patients with care, compassion, and honesty. He’s known for his friendly bedside manner, his gentle and painless treatments, and his excellent health care.
After graduating from Edcouch-Elsa High School in 1989, Dr. Elizondo headed to Texas A&M University, graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biomedical Science in 1993. While there, he was a steadfast member of the Corps of Cadets Company K2 and of Ross Volunteer Company.
During his time at Texas A&M, the future Dr. Elizondo saw a presentation about dentistry. The before and after pictures showing how people’s lives were changed lit a fire in his imagination and opened a door to his future in dentistry. He headed to the UTHealth Sciences Center School of Dentistry in San Antonio, graduating with honors in 1998 and ready to begin his career.
Dr. Elizondo is loved by his patients at Howdy Dental for his compassionate care and conservative approach. He always puts his patients’ best interests first, and patients appreciate his kind, approachable manner. With this comes his priority of providing top-notch services as a family dentist. On top of his general dentistry services, he particularly enjoys working with implants and orthodontic treatments. Although these cases can be especially challenging at times, Dr. Elizondo knows how transformative they can be, changing patients’ appearance and providing full functionality of their teeth—all of which reminds him of why he became a dentist in the first place.
With a commitment to lifelong learning, Dr. Elizondo has completed more than 1,700 hours of continuing education in just the past 24 months. During this time, he has focused on implant dentistry and orthodontics, among other specialties, taking Master Surgical Implant Courses and completing comprehensive and intermediate courses offered by the American Orthodontic Society.
On top of that, he has completed Academy of General Dentistry Master Track courses with the Academy of General Dentistry in Texas, Florida, Illinois, and Wisconsin, earning a Master award that acknowledges his expertise. Dr. Elizondo is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, the American Orthodontic Association, and the Rio Grande Valley District Dental Society. He is also a fellow with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and the American Academy of Implant Prosthodontics.
When he’s not pursuing his passion of helping his patients, Dr. Elizondo loves spending time at his cattle ranch, where he raises registered Brahman and Red Brangus cattle, whom he shows at livestock shows. He loves to run, and also loves to fish and participate in other outdoor activities. He also loves to travel, and he’s thrilled that his two daughters are currently attending his own alma mater, Texas A&M.
It’s been said that when you love what you do, you’ll never work another day in your life. That’s how Dr. Elizondo feels as he pursues continuing education and takes good care of his patients at Howdy Dental.
